Bear Mountain Inn is nestled atop a sprawling hill overlooking Bear Lake. The August sun and clear blue sky were the makings of a perfect wedding day. The big white tent held a vacant dance floor and undressed tables as Sara & Terri (along with many others) worked to set up the venue. We found Shayna, who was absolutely radiant and full of smiles. She led us to her dress, bouquet and rings so we could begin photographing those first... (one of our favorite parts to the day)!  The Bear Mountain Inn had so many surrounding beautiful areas that were great for us to use as backdrops to capture each item. Shayna’s bouquet was a marvelous array of different wildflowers including lilies! Wrapped around her bouquet, Shayna had placed a few locket sized photos of her grandmother and father. This was her way to memorialize two of the people who couldn’t be there on her special day.
The sun was blazing in the early afternoon as the tent slowly began to come together. Shayna and her bridesmaids could be found in one of the big air conditioned rooms in the inn, sipping cocktails, listening to music and having their hair and makeup done. There was always a steady stream of laughter coming from the room. We had such a blast with these girls!

Meanwhile in the August heat, the area where the ceremony was to take place was set up. A birch arbor overlooked the lake as chairs awaiting guests filled the spot in front. At the start of their aisle were two window panes that Shayna had written on. One listed the wedding party and the bride and groom’s families and the other stated, “Pick a seat, either side...you’re loved by both the groom and bride!” Meanwhile, The tent was transformed into the reception zone. The dance floor was bare, shined and ready for dancing shoes and memories to be had. The tables were displayed elegantly with glass jars clustered together holding flowers, white votive candles, a round birch table number and a tag at each seat that read, “Thank you for sharing our first meal as Mr. & Mrs.” There was a table housing a few glass bowls of jenga blocks, which turned out to be Tim and Shayna’s alternative form of a guest book. What a unique and fun idea! On the table next to the jenga block bowls was a framed note saying, “In lieu of favors, we have made a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. This donation will help provide hands on care to the millions of Americans with Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses, and their families.” Shayna and Tim, with their caring natures, went above and beyond on their wedding day, and added another unique way to celebrate their love and wedding day. The most eye catching table however was the memorial table. There were framed photos, and a beautiful set up of hanging photos capturing the moments and smiles of family and friends who had passed. The note on the table read, “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day...unseen, unheard,  but always near still loved, still missed very dear.” The photos were sweet, and it was a beautiful way to celebrate those who couldn’t be there to celebrate their special day. At the entrance to the tent were window panes, that Shayna had put together that listed the seating chart. We loved that Shayna had a hand on so much of the personalized & decorative details!

The tent was ready to go, the ceremony area was awaiting guests, all that was left was for the bride, groom and their wedding party to finish getting ready! The groomsmen arrived in their pants and shirts ready to tie their ties & buckle their vests! Part of the men's wardrobes became the mini fans! It was so hot, they sure were happy to have them. The bridesmaids had put on their grey dresses, were buckling their heels and clasping their necklaces. Each bridesmaid had a different color necklace that also matched her heels. It was such a clever way to give each bridesmaid their own personality to the attire and make their grey dresses pop! Finally the time came for Shayna to get into her dress. They ventured to the same room where the guys had been getting ready -but had since been kicked out as this was the the most perfectly lit room for all the getting ready shots! Shayna began to slip into her dazzling dress that she wore ever so perfectly. Our favorite part was the small over coat she wore with cuffed sleeves covered in pearls and crystals. Her Aunt had been in charge of buttoning the dress’s many buttons, and she hooked them in quickly. Shayna wore her grandmother's delicate gold bracelet as a loving keepsake on her big day. Her bridesmaids, flower girl, and mom all watched,  helped and took in the wonderful moment as Shayna stood in her dress, looking positively stunning, ready to meet Tim at the end of the aisle!

The ceremony began as parents and grandparents were escorted in by groomsmen. Gwen dressed in her pink flower girl dress, skipped down the aisle tossing red flower petals in every direction. The ringbearer followed behind her with a sign stating, “Here Comes the Bride.” Maria, Kate and Jen made their way down the aisle to an instrumental, “I Belong with You” by The Lumineers. Once the bridesmaids were at the arbor, the guests rose and Shayna made her way down the aisle escorted by her mom and brother. Upon seeing Shayna, Tim became teary eyed and it was clear as they joined hands under the arbor how completely in love with each other they were. The officiant reminded them the importance of saying, “I love you” everyday, and they said their vows, smiling as they exchanged words. Tim’s dad stepped forward and gave a short reading from Corinthians, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” The couple shared a hug with Tim’s dad before being announced as the new Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin! They walked up the aisle wearing the biggest smiles and arms looped in one another’s. Following the ceremony, Tim and Shayna had a receiving line to be able to see and greet each and every guest personally. They hugged and laughed with each guest. They then took a break alone to relish their new status as Mr. and Mrs. Mclaughlin. They headed down to the banks of Bear Lake while their guests stepped into cocktail hour.

Their wedding party were quick to want to celebrate. They were full of laughs and cheers, and once the couple's designated alone time was up, the party clamored down the hill and descended on the couple for group photos. Tim and Shayna were having a blast as they made silly faces with their friends and posed for photos with Bear Lake as the backdrop. After the photos were complete the couple and their wedding party headed back up the hill to continue their celebration of love.

The new Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin were announced in and immediately went into their first dance. They shared their first dance to Adam Sandler’s “I Wanna Grow Old with You.” and “Wallet’s Worth” by Umphrey McGee. They wrapped their arms around one another and swayed together to the music. The sun had begun its descent in the sky and the lights of the tent illuminated the couple as they sung the song to one another. They were so comfortable wrapped around each other, and when Shayna rested her head on Tim to finish out the dance, the entire tent swooned.

Dinner was soon served and the delicious aroma of Dandelion Catering filled the tent. Guests enjoyed the delicious meal and swapped stories of the bride and groom. Soon after dinner it was time for toasts. Chris, Shayna’s brother and her Man of Honor was the first up. He mentioned that Tim was always like family and was happy they were finally making it official. Jen, through tears, declared that they were the perfect example of true love. It was groomsman Tim who had the guests laughing at stories from college.

Following the speeches, Tim and his mom stepped out onto the dance floor for their Mother-Son dance to “What a Wonderful World.” They were laughing and smiling as Louis Armstrong’s voice filled the tent. Once the song ended, mother and son embraced, and the newlyweds were called over to the cake table. The beautiful cake was set before them as they sliced into the bottom tier. They were laughing and very sweet as they shared their slices of cake with one another. After sharing a cake-y kiss, the dance floor opened up for all the guests, and they filled it up! Every inch of the dance floor was taken as guests danced with the couple. The party was just getting started as the sun set, the lights and candles illuminated the tent, guests refilled their drinks and the music continued to play!
